FOOD

This section is full of food that we've made or even some that I want to make. As I get this thing going more I'll have lots of pictures. Cause who doesn't look for pictures on a blog!?

Whole 30 Recipes we've made:

 Home made GHEE/ clarified butter

We've purchased salted and unsalted. It didn't seem to matter much how the ghee came out. Here's a couple brands we have bought to make our ghee.

Most important thing is that it is QUALITY butter. Seek out local, organic, grass-fed butter.

The benefit is you are filtering out the milk proteins/ milk solids. As the WHOLE 30 taught us- regular butter is one of the foods that causes inflammation, tummy problems, and affects metabolism.

They were yummy! The only downside is while we did WHOLE 30 we used a lot of fun recipes and ingredients but some of recipes had the same core ingredients and spices. By the time I made this one, it had too many similar properties to everything else we had been cook'n.

Oh side tip: When you make this- for it to be TRULEY WHOLE 30 COMPLIANT you need to make sure to use a fish sauce without sugar. Like this one available on amazon:

Olive oil mayo from Well fed 2 cookbook
We got a ton of our recipes from Mellissa Joulwan's blog and Well Fed 2 cookbook. Here is a link to her website. The most helpful resource you will find if you are wanting to start whole 30.

Here is a link to her how-to make mayo video http://meljoulwan.com/2012/08/19/mayo-how-to-video/
Our fav mayo modification was to make garlic mayo! Great dipping sauce with our skillet sweet potatoes.
It is so easy and simple ingredients. How nice to know exactly what's in your food!!! Look at the label of store bought mayo versus your 5 ingredient homemade mayo!

Chicken with bacon mustard sauce

Our latest pinterest recipe that we tried....SUCCESS!!!!
This was so good and so simple to make. It was totally lactose free and gluten free. We ate it with cilantro lime rice and homemade cinnamon applesauce. Michael actually mixed everything on his plate together and enjoyed all the flavors of the sides mixed in. Our pictures aren't nearly as enticing as on Julia's blog (above). But none-the-less here is our pics of it cooking.

I would highly recommend this recipe.
